Sharp's MEMS-IGZO display tablet wins "Green Innovation Category Grand Prix"
Sharp's MEMS-IGZO display tablet, exhibited at CEATEC JAPAN 2014, a comprehensive annual exhibition showcasing the latest in IT and electronics opened in Japan, received the Green Innovation Category Grand Prix.
Our 8K LCD Display received the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications Award on October 7, showing the high evaluation of our technology in IT devices as well.
The award is judged and presented by the CEATEC JAPAN committee*1, evaluating all exhibits at CEATEC JAPAN 2014, targeting IT / electronics devices, software, solutions and concepts that contribute to reducing the environment burden centering power saving (CO2 reduction).
Sharp's MEMS-IGZO display tablet installs state of the art MEMS-IGZO display joint developed for practical use with Pixtronix, a subsidiary of Qualcomm. The fusion of MEMS technology by Pixtronix and IGZO technology by Sharp, lower power consumption and higher color reproduction is realized. Switching to the optimum display mode depending on using scenes and contents, such as high brightness mode for use in outdoors, and grayscale / black and white mode for low power consumption display is realized.
A 7.0" inch size tablet device for business use is scheduled to be on market in the first half of FY2015.
