In Las Vegas, Nevada on January 6, 2010, the day before the start of the 2010 International CES*1 in that city, Sharp held a press conference to introduce its products and strategies.
With the 2010 International CES slated for January 7 to 10, 2010, Sharp Corporation President & COO Mikio Katayama opened by explaining three key efforts towards becoming an eco-positive company: Display Innovations, Energy Innovations, and Space Innovations.
Sharp also announced the release of the AQUOS LE920, LE820, LE810 Series LCD TVs that combine Sharp's new UV2A*2 LCD technology with its four-primary-color display that adds yellow (Y) to the three colors of red (R), green (G), and blue (B), an industry first.
With four-primary-color display technology, colors can be reproduced like with no LCD monitor before, making possible, for example, faithful rendering of golden yellow brass musical instruments. The LE920, LE820, LE810 Series will be introduced in the US market starting in March 2010 and to other markets after that.
Michael Troetti, President of Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America (SEMCA), then outlined audio-video product trends in the Americas and introduced the company's strategy for the market.
Bob Scaglione, SEMCA Senior Vice President, wrapped up the presentations by detailing the products that would headline the Sharp booth at CES, including the LED-backlight AQUOS and Blu-ray Disc players.
Many of the approximately 450 journalists and industry analysts who filled the venue had questions on the industry-first four-primary-color display AQUOS LE920, LE820, LE810, witness to the high interest in Sharp and its new LCD technologies.
