Sharp Attends Japanese-German Business Summit at Hannover Messe
On April 21, 2008, Toshio Adachi, Corporate Senior Executive Vice President, attended as a panelist at the Japanese-German Business Summit, held in conjunction with the Hannover Messe. The event invited government and business leaders and was aimed at building economic bridges between the host country Germany and this year's partner country Japan.
Several hundred German businesspeople, academics, and journalists attended four panel discussion sessions led by government and business leaders from the two countries. As a panelist in the session titled International Cooperation Through Innovative Technologies, Mr. Adachi gave specific examples of Sharp's involvement in industry-government-academia cooperation, in product-intellectual property rights connections, and in academic networks linking Germany and Japan. He was able to show how Sharp's corporate strategy of taking an active approach to R&D brings forth one-of-a-kind products and technologies.
