Sharp Corporation is pleased to announce that the adoption of its email address domain name "@mail.sharp" starting in Japan starting April 1, 2024, will be expanded globally commencing in 2025. The various email domains utilized across different countries by the Sharp Group will be new sequentially unified under this domain name.
This initiative is part of Sharp's brand TLD*1 strategy, which has been actively pursued since the acquisition of the operating rights for ".sharp" in February 2015.*2
The brand TLD ".sharp" is exclusively available for use by the Sharp Group, thereby mitigating security risks associated with phishing scams and the redirection to fraudulent websites. Furthermore, this change aims to reinforce the Sharp brand and enhance its recognition, instilling a sense of security and trust among its customers.
Existing email addresses used by current employees will be transitioned to the new addresses in 2025 (the timing of this change will vary by individual address). Emails sent to the existing addresses will be forwarded to the new email addresses even after the transition is completed. For the foreseeable future, there are no plans to terminate this forwarding service.
With such actions, Sharp Group continues its commitment in strengthening its governance.
