Sharp Corporation will exhibit at PV EXPO 2024, an international business meeting for solar power generation systems, to be held at Tokyo Big Sight*1 from February 28 (Wed.) to March 1 (Fri.), 2024. One booth highlight will be the Eee Connect system, Sharp’s proprietary energy solution for effective use of solar-power-generated electricity by linking residential solar power systems, storage batteries, home appliances, and EVs. Other attractions include thin-film compound solar cells that have been used on a lunar spacecraft.
■ Exhibit Highlights
1.Eee Connect system: residential energy solution for effective use of solar-power-generated electricity by linking residential solar power systems, storage batteries, home appliances, and EVs
A V2H system linking an EV with the home by way of the industry’s smallest and lightest*2 EV converter (to be launched in spring 2024); the Life Eee Connect service reducing electricity bills by efficiently linking things like solar modules, home appliances, and water heaters; and BLACKSOLAR ZERO solar modules, which allow efficient installation on roofs with limited space will be exhibited. Visitors will get a comprehensive view of how Sharp’s proprietary Eee Connect energy system can utilize energy smartly throughout the entire home.
2.New technologies such as thin-film compound solar cells for outer space and perovskite solar cells
Thin-film compound solar cells equipped on the SLIM*3 small-scale lunar spacecraft of JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency), which made a successful pinpoint landing on the moon in January 2024; compound–silicon stacked solar cells with the world’s highest*4 conversion efficiency of 33.66%; and thin, lightweight, and flexible perovskite solar cells will be introduced as Sharp’s cutting-edge solar cell technologies.
3.Corporate solutions including industrial photovoltaic systems
Industrial photovoltaic modules that can be installed in areas with heavy snowfall and seaside locations subject to salt damage will be exhibited together with proposals for boosting power generation by replacing power conditioners.
*1 The Sharp booth will be in the Smart Grid EXPO area to be held at the same time.
*2 For V2H systems that can make a DC connection with solar power generation and storage batteries. According to Sharp (as of February 19, 2024).
*3 SLIM (Smart Lander for Investigating Moon) is a small-scale lunar exploration spacecraft developed by JAXA, which plans to demonstrate technologies enabling high-accuracy landings required for future lunar and planetary exploration utilizing small spacecraft.
