‘Lessbea’ Battery-Less Beacon

A beacon equipped with highly efficient dye-sensitized solar cells and batteries that do not require replacing.

Features

Powered by dye-sensitized solar cells with globally unrivaled power generation efficiency, this beacon is battery-free, eliminating the need for replacement and enabling continuous location information transmission, even indoors or underground when GPS reception is poor.

Recently, increasing interest in location information has seen the spotlight fall on beacons in particular. Although most conventional mainstream beacons are battery-operated and require replacement, our beacons need no battery replacement and can continuously transmit location information.

Dye-sensitized solar cells work with high efficiency within the wavelength range of indoor lighting. We have achieved exceptional efficiency in an economical “compact and handheld version” with a narrow frame.

Going forward, various applications in office spaces and a range of facilities are expected.

Stable operation, even under low light conditions of 50 lx or so

Designed to blend into the office

No maintenance required

Applying this to navigation services allows pedestrians carrying smartphones with compatible applications installed to reach their destination seamlessly, even if outside GPS reception.
