Sharp Holds Indonesia Environmental Forum at Indonesia/Japan Expo 2008

At the forum

Sharp Corporation held the Indonesia Environmental Forum on the first day of Indonesia/Japan Expo 2008, an event held from November 1 to 9, 2008 to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. About 120 guests, including Mr. Sudariyono of Indonesia's Environment Ministry and other government representatives, academics, NGO members, and journalists attended the event at the Jakarta International Exhibition Center.

The forum started with Sharp executives giving informative audio-visual presentations. Executive Officer Hiroshi Morimoto, Group General Manager, Environmental Protection Group, spoke on Sharp's company-wide environmental efforts, while Makoto Takahashi, Group Deputy General Manager of the International Business Group, presented an outline of Sharp and Fumihiro Irie, Managing Director of P.T. Sharp Electronics Indonesia (SEID), explained Sharp's contributions to Indonesian society.

Mr. Sudariyono of Indonesia's Environment Ministry then talked about his government's environmental policies. He was followed by Mr. Iwan Wibisono of the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), who explained the activities of the fund and offered Sharp some advice as well.

The event ended with Ms. Desy Anwar of Metro TV summing up the forum. The high level of interest in environmental issues in Indonesia was evidently clear as the event came to a successful close.

This was the latest in a series of environmental forums that Sharp has held in Japan, China, and Europe. Sharp will continue such activities as part of its promotion as an environmentally advanced company.
