Sharp’s Thai Subsidiary Celebrates the Cumulative Production Milestone of 10 Million Refrigerators

Sharp Appliances (Thailand) Ltd. (SATL)—Sharp Corporation’s production base in Thailand—held a ceremony on March 11, 2013 to commemorate the cumulative production of 10 million refrigerators which the company achieved at the end of February 2013.

This accomplishment came as a result of SATL’s unceasing efforts in expanding its product lineup as well as its supply destinations which presently encompass about 100 countries. The company commenced its operation in May 1988.

“As a company based in Thailand, we would like to continue to contribute to the country’s social and economic development. Beyond this turning point, our next milestone will be the cumulative production of 20 million refrigerators, and 30 million refrigerators after that.”, said Takashi Suzuki, president of SATL, addressing the participants at the ceremony.

SATL members renew their aspirations at the ceremony

To mark the 10-million-unit milestone, SATL announced the release of its new refrigerator model developed exclusively for ASEAN markets. The first model equipped with Sharp’s unique dual-swing door to be sold in ASEAN countries, this refrigerator also comes with various features that are tailored for the region. They include a compartment designed to enable users to take out large vegetables with ease as well as a refrigerator compartment that is positioned at the top to facilitate frequent use.
