On August 23, 2007, Sharp China held an exhibition at the Shanghai International Convention Center in Pudong, Shanghai to showcase the new AQUOS lineup, including a 32-inch, full-HD model.
An appearance by popular Chinese actress René Liu, the celebrity face of AQUOS in China, created quite a stir.
To open the exhibition, Sharp Corporate Director Nobuyuki Sugano gave an overview of a new factory that Sharp is planning to open by March of 2010. He also outlined Sharp's strategy for becoming an environmentally advanced company through the expansion of its LCD and solar businesses.
To demonstrate Sharp China's efforts to use a consistent image in their sales promotions, advertisements featuring René Liu, catalogs, sales promotion tools, and in-store display tools were introduced along with the AQUOS lineup. All of these promotional tools are being put to good use as the selling season intensifies in the days leading up to China's National Day on October 1.
