Sharp Hosts 2nd China Environmental Forum in Beijing

Sharp Corporation held its second Sharp Environment Forum at the Diao Yu Tai Hotel in Beijing, China, on September 26.
The forum opened with remarks by Corporate Director Nobuyuki Sugano at Sharp's International Business Group, who presented an overview of Sharp's policies aimed at becoming an "Environmentally Advanced Company" and the new Sakai Plant which will become a symbol of them (operations are slated to begin in March, 2010). Next, Group General Manager Hiroshi Morimoto of the Environmental Protection Group, used posters and graphics in a presentation on Sharp's environmental policies and the measures being taken to implement them.
In addition, Mr. Keizo Ito, President of Sharp Office Equipments (Changshu) Co., Ltd. (SOCC) spoke on behalf of Sharp's production facilities in China and gave a presentation on the environmental measures being taken at SOCC's copier plant and contributions to the local community.
Representing the Chinese attendees, Mr. Wang, The Secretary for the Ministry of Information Industry, Deputy Director of the Economic Operations, made a presentation and provided advice regarding the Chinese government's environmental policies. Finally, there were enthusiastic questions from participants about environmental efforts and policies in Japan, evidence of the high level of interest in the environment among those in attendance.
