About the 'Windows Protected Print Mode' in Windows 11 24H2
Microsoft introduced the Windows Protected Print (WPP) feature in the Windows 11 version 24H2 update released in October 2024. WPP is designed to enhance the security of the printing system, but it is disabled by default.
When WPP is disabled, users can continue printing as usual with their existing printer drivers. However, once WPP is enabled, the following restrictions will apply to the use of printer drivers(including PC-Fax drivers and virtual drivers):
- ・When WPP is enabled, new printer drivers cannot be installed.
- ・When WPP is enabled, any Sharp printer drivers installed on the PC are automatically deleted and no longer available.
- Furthermore, even if WPP is disabled again, the deleted drivers will not be automatically restored and must be reinstalled.
So we kindly ask you to be aware of these limitations when considering the use of the WPP feature.
In addition, when using our MFPs on a PC with the WPP function enabled, please use “Sharp Print Support App”, a printing application (PSA application) provided by us.
