Sharp Environmental Forum in Guangzhou
Sharp Hosts 3rd China Environmental Forum in Guangzhou
Forum conference
In response to the growing momentum of environmental efforts in China, Sharp Corporation is holding a series of environmental forums for Chinese government officials and media executives. The third Sharp Environmental Forum was held in Guangzhou on March 11, 2008 following earlier ones in Shanghai (May 2007), and Beijing (September 2007).
Corporate Director Nobuyuki Sugano opened the forum by presenting an outline of Sharp Corporation and its environmental policies. He went on to introduce Sharp's efforts toward becoming an Environmentally Advanced Company exemplified by the new LCD and solar cell manufacturing complex being constructed in Sakai City in Osaka, Japan.
Group General Manager Hiroshi Morimoto of the Environmental Protection Group followed up with the introduction of Sharp's company-wide environmental efforts by using video presentation on the Kameyama Plant and explanatory panels.
Next, officials from the Environmental Protection Bureau of Guangdong Province and the People's Government of Guangzhou Municipality made presentations on behalf of the Chinese attendees. They discussed government environmental policies in China and Guangzhou and offered Sharp some advice.
The high level of interest in environmental issues was abundantly clear as the forum came to a close with a flurry of enthusiastic questions from participants about Sharp's environmental efforts and policies.
