Sharp Environmental Forum in Tianjin
Sharp Hosts 4th China Environmental Forum im Tianjin
Forum conference
In response to the growing momentum of environmental efforts in China, Sharp Corporation is holding a series of environmental forums for Chinese government officials and media executives. The fourth Sharp Environmental Forum was held in Tianjin on May 21, 2008 following earlier ones in
Shanghai (May 2007), Beijing (September 2007), and Guangzhou (March 2008).
The fourth event drew approximately 20 representatives from the Tianjin municipal government and media organizations to a hotel in the city.
Sharp Corporation's Shinichi Niihara, Group Deputy General Manager, COO China, International Sales and Marketing Group, opened the forum by offering condolences on behalf of the Sharp Group to the victims of the Sichuan Earthquake and pledging that Sharp will do all it can to aid in the restoration of the region.
Mr. Niihara then went on to present an outline of Sharp and its environmental policies and to introduce Sharp's efforts to become an environmentally advanced company, as exemplified by the new LCD and solar cell manufacturing complex being constructed in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, Japan.
Group General Manager Hiroshi Morimoto of the Environmental Protection Group followed up with explanatory panels and a video on the Kameyama Plant that illustrated Sharp's company-wide environmental efforts in an easy-to-understand manner.
The high level of interest in environmental issues was abundantly clear as the forum came to a close with a flurry of enthusiastic questions from participants about Sharp's environmental efforts and policies.
